Windows installed; air conditioning and electric being run.

  • It’s been six months since we said “yes build this house please”.
  • This is Build month #4 quickly coming to a close.
  • I can’t think of anything else useful to outline here, so let’s get to the photos.

So here was work going on at the home site on this past Sunday, as such we couldn’t really get in there until everyone was gone.

It was raining too, so we were in and out.  (Muddy outside with the dirt and all)  This made the house look crappy in the dull light, so I didn’t take many exterior pictures this trip…sorry.

^ Two views from the upstairs windows looking across the street from front of home.

^ A/C duct work and general “mess” going on in the Game Room area as things inside start taking shape.

^ Emzy came with us, yeah.  This is the duct work going in behind the Garage wall area.

^ This seems to be the “list of things to correct” as scribbled onto the garage wall.  Kind of interesting.

Seems the plumbing work passed inspection, so the A/C lines are going in, along with some electrical, but not much to report otherwise.

Biggest surprise was the home’s windows have all been installed!

You’d think we were in the home stretch (ha, bad pun) but we’re going to have to wait for electrical to be finished, walls, flooring, paint… and who knows how many more inspections… (since the windows have gone in).  We’re also hoping some of the leaks we saw yesterday are because some structural stuff just hasn’t all been completed yet — and if so, they get it wrapped up soon!

As we figured, our closing date has been re-adjusted.. finally.    We’re now anticipating a closing around 3/31.  Two months behind schedule.  3/31 isn’t even a weekday though, so we’re going to try to get a better date scheduled.

More details here once we get it all figured out ourselves.

Before and after comparison… August ’17 vs January ’18

Here’s  a quick before and after from last August, up to this past Sunday for comparing…

Now, sure, August to January SOUNDS like a lot of time, I know…. But considering this lot was still looking the original way back in November…. The builders have really made some progress in two months!

They’ve also built several houses behind us on the opposite side of the pond since then, which you’ll also notice missing in the original picture if you stare into the background.  There’s like six more houses built that weren’t there last summer.

Ok, back to waiting we go.

~Byron

Some more progress, some more pictures.

They’ve run a fair amount of plumbing, put in the tub/showers in the bathrooms, and put a lot of “notes” on the garage wall of things they’re going to do/fix next.

Anyways.  Here are some more pictures from this past weekend’s visit…

^ Garage and front… You’ve probably seen this already though…

^ Right side.  There’s going to be that one little window for bathroom, and that large window in the laundry area upstairs… and that’s IT for windows on this side.

^Back side from about the spot where we’ll be building the deck around the entire covered back porch there.  (Yes, a deck just like our last house — only, of course, much better, because it’s NOT THAT HOUSE…) 😀

^ The left side… Again, not much for window action over here either.   I believe that could be one of the upstairs bathroom’s windows, but not sure.

^ View of the front porch and entrance way.

^ Here’s Jason spying into what will eventually become a kitchen area.

^ Sorry to our to-be-neighbors.  We’ll park in the driveway once it exists, promise!  And the Port-o-potty will be history by then too.

^ View from inside middle of the first floor, towards the front door.  Kitchen to front right, dining area to rear right, and living room left  to where you’re standing, master bedroom to the far left, and the staircase access to upstairs and everything else.

^ This is the view from that one high window in the laundry room on the second floor!   In about two more years, there will be houses galore along the right between us and that home way up the street.

There are 7 lots in total on this stretch.   Going to enjoy this view while we can.  (See, they’re already clearing a lot to build just three lots over.)

^ Another view of the street before the lots all fill up.  Basically, this side will look like that far side across the way.  Houses houses houses.

^ Here’s the backyard.  That pond is supposed to be getting a clean-up makeover job once the HOA gets their mind set on just when that’s going to happen….

^ Another view of that “pond” in the back.   You can see some of the houses on other side are still getting finished.

^ A couple of houses to the “back-left” of ours.  We met some our nice new neighbors on this trip.

^ And here’s the fam in the to-be-kitchen.

I took more photos, but WordPress didn’t like them and rotated them all to hell, so this is all we’re posting for this update.

Patience is all we really have right now.  Very anxious to get into the house and see “whats next”. 🙂

Inside of the home is coming along.

Another week, another show of progress on the construction.

^ Not sure where I was when I snapped this one, to be honest, but the framing looked cool. 🙂

^ View of coming down the stairs from second floor

^ View from inside game room looking NW.

^ Looking up from the front porch… left window is game room area, far-right window in front is Dad’s office window.

^ View from front porch / entrance area, this is just left of the garage.

View from inside the garage looking towards house

^ View from master bedroom looking towards living room/kitchen area

^ View from living room looking towards front door / front of house.

^ View of front right from the street.   Kid not included with home.  Or is he?

^ View of outside Dad’s eventual office!

^ View looking into game room.

There’s now a staircase going up and the floors on the second floor are navigable.  We’re now able to see where the Game Room, kids rooms, guest room, my office and some spaces like Air Handler, Darcy’s “craft closet” and some other areas will be.

Also can clearly see where the kitchen bar is going to exist (above), and especially cool — we can see the back patio covering in in place (below)!

This was all very exciting to catch over the weekend.  Really hope they keep moving!!   We are all so anxious and excited.  Looking forward to getting (into!) our new house!

Here we look another month later…

It’s been about a month since the last update.

The foundation was poured and cured.  The first story blocks have gone up..

Was good to see the house finally getting “framed”.

Now as of this week, new progress is being seen in the fact they’re putting up the trusses and starting to get to work on the second story!

Progress.   It  sure takes a while for some of this stuff to get done.  We’re not sure when the closing date is going to be at this point.    Considering the original date of Feb 1st is less than four weeks away, I’m pretty sure the date’s going to be pushed back.

It’s starting to look like they’re building a house.

While we get the temporary home decorated up for Christmas, it looks like the builders are finally starting to get to real work on building out the lot!

Plumbing and the initial frame to support adding concrete for the foundation have gone in.

More pictures taken from the last couple of days below…

Anxiously awaiting further progress.

~Byron

They’re building…something!

Looks like a house is finally getting built.  We’ll see in a few more weeks.

For now, here’s a pic of the recent foundation / framing work going in.

And for what it’s worth — when we signed our intent to build back at the end of July, they were just starting to finish the cinder blocks up the street a few lots, on 1-story home.  That home is still in process of being completed, but has been recently painted outside.  (4.5 months it took there, is the point.)

So we may be in for another 3-4 months of this, depending on the progress that takes shape here in the next few weeks.

Land finally getting cleared, trees removed, and we met new neighbors!

Darcy noticed over the weekend that the lot’s land was cleared, and some trees were even removed!   We went by again to take some pictures.

Finally, after months we’re seeing some real work being done at the site, so we can calm down a little now I guess? 🙂

We also met our neighbor across the street, and they seem very nice!  Looking forward to meeting the rest of our new neighbors over the coming months.
