Permits acquired, building should start any day now…

It’s been a long three months of seeing not much done in the way of our new home’s construction.

NEW Home: Still under construction, once it even starts… Read on below..

Two weeks ago, the permit became available.  The home-builder picked it up a week later, and as of this week, we’re told to see plumbing and concrete work starting to take shape.

I’ve already seen a new water meter cover get put in, as of my last drive by.  Darcy’s also taken some pictures of the lot, which appears to have markers put in for the lot dimensions.  (I thought they were utility markers, oh well.)

Time will tell, but at this point with construction starting into November, we’re not expecting to take delivery of the home for another 3-4 months… about a month later than we anticipated.  We’ll see how the next few days go.

As of 11/6 (today) there’s the lot!   Still kind of waiting for some action to start taking place…

It’s been awhile… (UPDATE)

So it’s been a few months since this whole process began, but we’re finally starting to get some traction.

  • The old house still hasn’t closed, but we should be closing within the next few days.  Likely by the 25th, next week.
  • The permit for the new house has FINALLY been granted, so construction will finally start on the new lot.  (It took a little longer than expected to get permits in place.)
  • We’ve seen more of the “model” home nearby in another town, as it comes to completion.  This gives us a better idea of what to expect to see when ours is ready.

For now, it’s just patience, patience, patience as construction takes shape and eventually completes.  We expect to have the new house sometime after February at this point.

We’ll spend Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years holidays in our temporary home or celebrating with others.

Five months to go….

  • We’re closing on the house soon, and moving out of the current home even sooner.
  • Temporarily relocating a little bit south of here until the closing on the new home, moving out of here by Sept 9th.
  • Still expecting to move-in our new home around Feb 1st.
  • Construction ground-breaking doesn’t have for another few weeks… We’ll likely see something start happening towards end of September.

UPDATE/EDIT:  I had previously posted some pictures into this entry, as of today (11/6) I’m removing them, because Darcy told me I took pictures of the wrong model house when I was out snapping them.   (Awesome!)

Anyways.  We’ve seen/walked through the ACTUAL model 2705 home, and it’s still got us waiting and anxious/excited.

SOLD!

Well that didn’t take long.

Accepted an offer this morning to sell our current home.

Should close in next 45 days if all goes well.

The search is still on for a temporary place to live before the new Park Creek home is ready in February next year!

First Open House – Already have offers

Our agent showed our current home on Laraway Ct. this past Sunday afternoon, and we had a few visitors for such a quick offering with little heads-up notice.

Here we are the next day, and we already have multiple offers coming in via our agent.  (That’s exactly why we chose Kerin Clarkin!)

Fingers crossed – seems we may be moving a lot sooner than we expected into a temporary living arrangement!  We don’t expect this house to be on the market too much longer, either way.

Latest Happenings:

  • Updated:  Current house is on the market.  Hoping to see it move quick.  Probably quicker than expected!
  • Looking for a rental / apartment to temporarily move into in-between closings.
  • Contract was just signed on July 31st, just in time to get 50% off first $10,000 worth of upgrades.
  • Deposit has been put down.

Unfortunately, our house is so customized, there’s really not a picture we can find that shows our choices.  We’re also the first 2-story home of “model 2705” being built within our entire community.

Next we’re preparing to list our current home so it’s on MLS and available in the market!  Excitement is in the air!
